Heritage Suffolk Pale Ale

From the brewer

"A refeshing Special Pale Ale brewed with malted Heritage barley variety Chevallier as well as the classic world renowned Maris Otter."

Heritage Suffolk Pale Ale (5%) has been lovingly created using East Anglian Chevallier malted barley. Reintroduced two years ago by local maltster, Crisp Malt, five preserved Chevallier seeds were re-sown and crops harvested to create the volume required to replicate a traditional Greene King real ale from the 1800s.

Tasting Notes

Saaz and Strisselspalt hops are added in the boiling copper and as late hops for more aroma. Delicious hops from Alsace are found in use in our old recipe ledgers and are now being used again to create this Heritage brew. Herbal, citrus, floral and spicy notes add to the sweet malt taste for a more easy drinking heritage ale.

Food Pairing

Classic English dishes like steak and ale pie, sausage and mash or a strong English cheddar. For spring and summer dishes then a Ploughman’s with fruity pickle will be a perfect match.
