Vintage fine ale gets gold
OUR limited edition Vintage Heritage Fine Ale has been shortlisted for the Prize of the Jury 2018 at the Monde 2018 World Quality Selections, Having already received a grand gold quality award.
The 6.5% abv beer was launched in January this year as a limited edition bottle conditioned ale having been lovingly created using East Anglian Chevallier malted barley long thought to have been extinct. Five preserved Chevallier seeds were discovered, re-sown and crops harvested to create the volume required to replicate a traditional Greene King real ale from the 1800s.
The Prize of the Jury award is awarded to one product in the Beers, Waters and Soft Drinks category for its outstanding qualities for taste, flavour, innovation and originality. In addition to the nomination, Greene king has been awarded the Crystal Prestige Trophy, recognising ten consecutive years of Monde Selections award winning beers.
Speaking on behalf of Greene King, Clive Chesser, managing director said: “We are delighted to receive this recognition for Vintage Heritage Fine Ale from Monde Selections. As brewers since 1799, we are fortunate to have a wonderfully rich heritage of brewing know-how and recipes to draw upon for inspiration to create new, innovative and interesting beers."
